Womens basketball at the University of Florida will be ready to compete with Top ranked teams around the country.Gators lost leading scorer Depree Bowden who averaged 13.4 points per game, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.1 steals. But that will not affect the level of play Coach Amanda Butler is preparing her team for. There are 5 or 6 other players ready to step up and fill the position and compete against the great talent in the SEC. Returning Gators such as: Sha Brook, Marshae Dotson, Jennifer Mossor, Aneika Henry, and Lonnika Thompson all contribute to the system that Amanda Butler has implemented at the University of Florida. Brooks, who averaged 12.3 points, and 2.0 steals per game last year is expected to be one of the great Gator leaders. Running along side her is dominate post Marshae Dotson, who was the second leading scoring and rebounds leader with 13.1 and 7.9 respectively. New Active Players---------------------------- Ndidi Madu will be active this season after sustaining an ACL injury early last season. Clemson transfer and 3-point specialist Susan Yenser will be allowed to play after being forced to sit out a year.
Recruits----------------------------------- Trumae Lucas is a shifty guard coming into a high tempo program ready to score and contribute defensively. Tailor Jones is an all-round athlete. She shoots the three-ball, is excellent in the post at 5'10, knocks down the mid-range, and has great vision in passing and assisting teammates. Azania Stewart is the face of defense... intimidating defender. Provides an Offensive post presence.
Shocking Performances----------------------------------- Kim Critton is the most explosive player on this Florida Womens basketball team. Gators look for her to have a standout season this year. Whether starting or coming off the bench Kim provides the team with a spark. Sharielle Smith gives the gators a mismatch opportunity. Even though she is an undersized post player, she shoots the mid-range, has one of the highest 3-point percentages on the team, and adds speed and aggressivness to Amanda's high tempo, in-your-face system.
Gator Unknowns, but bigtime players---------------------------- Steffi Sorensen has an incredible shot. This is one player who can be titled "zone breaker", she'll shoot her way out. Category: Women's NCAA |
